She Geeks Out

She Geeks Out (hosted by Rachel Murray and Felicia Jadczak) brings you the voices of women from all walks of life to share with you what they geek out about-- their passions, talents, struggles, and successes. This doesn't mean that they're going to be tech talks (although they might be!). Each episode will feature the hosts and their guests talking about topics including health, psychology, art, music, learning, and more-- the list goes on. Episodes are fun, engaging, and provide some nuggets of information that you can take away. Oh, and yeah, they might be awkward sometimes. That's just how we roll.

We have been fangirling over the very smart, very kind, and very funny Aubrey Blanche, Global Head of Diversity & Belonging at Atlassian. As always, we start with exploring how she got to have this fancy cool title, and then dig into what it all means. Atlassian released their second report on the State of Diversity and Inclusion in US Tech and talked about what people are sharing... a sense of fatigue when it comes to tackling issues around diversity and inclusion. This is part one of...

Holy honesty, ladies and gentlemen! We had an incredible time learning from the totally bad ass Kelley Calkins, co-founder of The Establishment, a multimedia company that elevates the voices that are missing within the real media establishment. They cover society, science, politics, relationships, arts, and everything in between and are 100% female run. Boom! We had lots of feelings about the tech scene in Silicon Valley, and why there's such a gender disparity. Spoiler alert - it's not because...

Did you know that Quidditch isn't just something you watch in a Harry Potter movie? There are real life Quidditch teams and leagues and competitions! We had no idea either, at least not until we met Katie at one of our SGO events. Katie Stack has a long history with Quidditch, which we completely nerd out about. But that's not all-- Katie's also done some really amazing work in the areas of advocacy and development. For more information on She Geeks Out, visit www.shegeeksout.com.

Kristen and Jennie work for the very cool, very bad ass Proletariat Games, a Boston-based gaming company that creates games like World Zombination, which we get into. We're not huge gamers ourselves, but by the end we learn about Twitch (it's a whole thing), the gaming community and that, in fact, we technically are 'gamers' because we play Monument Valley and The Room. So there! Rachel HAS to geek out about Civ, in the hopes that there's someone listening that will relate.
